Michelle was born and raised in a small village near Bedford and Milton Keynes.
Always itching to travel she left for University in Loughborough,
and then jetted off to New York for a year.
On Michelle’s return to the UK she headed for the south coast living in Worthing and then Seaford.
Currently back to her roots in Cranfield, Michelle will be shortly heading for life in Lincoln.

Michelle has been painting for many years, although she trained in Textile Design.
She has worked in Art and Design related industries since graduation – as a Textile Agent,
Account Manager (for a picture frame manufacturer), and as an Art Consultant.
Michelle has exhibited widely in the UK, not only producing the work to display,
but also undertaking to curate and market these events.

Influences for her work include texture, colour and pattern.
Integral to Michelle’s work are deep textural marks, aided by her use of various media including acrylic paint,
printing inks and varnish. These materials help to create the depth apparent in the canvases.
Michelle is constantly experimenting and investigating new techniques,
recently investing in a mangle to make unique prints using collograph and monoprint methods.

Themes throughout Michelle’s work include landscape and floral, as well as pattern.
The influence of pattern has developed through Michelle’s design training.
You will often find that the canvases can hang any way up – a must for fabric design.
Some paintings are spontaneous while others are strongly designed and planned,
allowing for balanced images that are gentle on the eye. While images are striking they retain delicacy.

Michelle loves that her work can be open to different interpretation by viewers.
